Located on the outskirts of Penzance in West Cornwall, Euroglass Windscreens is a small Company formed in 1999 by two very experienced automotive glaziers who were disilliousioned by the poor customer service, shoddy workmanship and the extortionate prices that were being charged to customer's insurance companies by their employers.
Whilst this still goes on to a degree, the Insurance industry is slowly 'wising-up' to the fact that they are being ripped off and are now turning away from the big, national names in favour of the Independant Companies, many of whom offer the same glass, from the same warehouse as these national Companies yet charge a fraction of the price and do a much better job, usually this is because (like us) the experienced technicians have become disillousioned and set up on their own, leaving some of the big, well-known companies with younger and less experienced fitters.
If you are employing any Company to replace your glass, here are some things to check to safeguard you, save you time and expense, and save your insurers money.........
DO NOT pay your excess to a call centre when you make your booking, once they have your money you are at their mercy and will almost certainly have to wait until they are prepared to do the job.
MAKE SURE that if you call your Insurance Company you are actually speaking to your Insurance Company, often when you "press button #" you will simply be diverted to their 'preferred' repairer.
YOU ARE THE CUSTOMER so ensure that your glass is fitted when and where you want it fitted, if your damage means that the car would fail an Mot it is illegal to drive, this is why mobile technicians come to you (obviously there are times that bonded glass cannot be replaced outside due to wet or cold weather)
INSECURE vehicles are usually not covered for theft or theft from vehicles, do not let your repairer talk you into leaving your car insecure after a break-in, if it gets stolen your Insurance Company could refuse to pay out.
A CONFIDENT technician will gladly let you watch (from a safe distance) whilst your pride and joy is repaired, and will usually be more than happy to explain the process to you. Be wary of any that want to be left alone.
Above all, don't let your Insurance Company dictate to YOU, the Customer, WHO you have to use, WHEN you have to have it done. Any reputable Company will be pleased to give you a copy of the invoice that is being sent to your Insurers, again be wary of anyone that won't advise you how much is being charged, you are entitled to know how much your Insurer's are being charged for your repair, after all the insurance industry will pass on all their costs to their Policyholder's eventually so do your bit to reduce their costs and your premiums. (Note: there are occasions when the technician replacing your glass will genuinely not know the cost due to the fact that some Insurance Companies have fixed prices but a call to the Company's office should get you that information.
